Mission Statement

The vision of The Light Church is Reach, Teach, Train. Though Reach, Teach, Train are separate aspects of ministry, they work together to flow into one continuous process. This process is what Jesus explained to His disciples (and to us) that we are to take part in daily. Jesus said, “All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost; Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you; and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. – Matthew 28: 18b-20.

If you are looking for a church where you can live out God’s call on your life to Reach, Teach, Train, come visit The Light Church. We would love to walk this journey of faith with you.

REACH /rēch/ stretch out an arm in a specific direction to touch or grasp something.

At The Light Church, we want to stretch out the loving arms of Jesus to those who are lost, hurting, or just need encouraged as they walk the path God has put them on.

-Lost: Sin separates us from God. Romans 6:23a says, “For the wages of sin is death.” (Eternal separation from God in hell). But God’s desire is to be in a relationship with everyone. It breaks His heart to see people in this lost condition. Matthew 9:36 says, “But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. So, God made a way that the lost could be saved. He calls it a gift. That gift is eternal life (eternally together with Christ in heaven). The rest of the verse in Romans 6:23 tells us how we can receive that gift, “but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” The gift God wants to give you today is Jesus.

The Light Church wants to stretch our arms, specifically to the lost, so that they may know and experience the saving touch of Jesus.

-Hurting: Many in our world today are hurting. From the loss of a loved one, the pain of addiction, the loneliness of anxiety, being paralyzed by anger, to the lack of necessities needed for daily survival, suffering and hurt are an all to common reality for many. The Bible gives us great hope that we can bring comfort to those who are hurting. “Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of Mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.” – 2Corinthians 1:3,4.

The Light Church wants to stretch out our arms to those who are hurting, so they can know and experience the comforting touch of Jesus.

-Encouragement: Sometimes, as a Believer, we just need a good dose of encouragement, a reminder that we are not in this battle alone. Where better to go for encouragement than God’s Word. God told the Prophet Isaiah, “Fear thou not; for I am with thee; be not dismayed, For I am thy God; I will strengthen thee, yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee. – Isaiah 41:10,13.

The Light Church wants to stretch out our arms to those brothers and sisters who need encouragement, so they can know and experience the helping hand of Jesus.

TEACH /tēch/ show or explain to someone how to do something.

As we are blessed with the opportunity to REACH people in our community and around the world, it is vital that we then begin to TEACH them how to live this Christian life. The way we learn things is by being taught. A great example from scripture is when Philip came alongside the Ethiopian eunuch and asked him if he understood what he was reading. The eunuch’s response was, “How can I, except some man should guide me?” – Acts 8:31.

That comment shows us there are two important aspects of being taught. Shows us there are two important aspects of being taught. First, the source. The eunuch was reading from scripture. At The Light Church, we believe that scripture, God’s Word, is the best source in teaching someone how to live the Christian life. As our Pastor often says, “at The Light Church, we simply open the Bible and read it.” There is just no better source to learn from. Second, the one teaching. For a student to become knowledgeable in a subject, there needs to be a teacher who is proficient in that subject. Matthew 9:35a tells us, “And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues,”. We know that Jesus, God in the flesh, was the greatest teacher to ever walk the earth. And now, through the work of the Holy Spirit, God uses man to teach His word to others. At The Light Church, we take the teaching of God’s Word very serious, from our kids Ministry all the way to our Senior Ministry. We believe, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” – Romans 10:17

TRAIN /trān/ teach (a person) a particular skill or type of behavior through practice and instruction over a period of time.

TRAIN is an extension of the teaching done at The Light Church. One of the most exciting experiences at The Light Church is to see people putting to practice the things they have been taught, using the talents and gifts God created them with and for the purpose of glorifying God. The Bible tells us, “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” – Ephesians 2:10.

At The Light Church, we just can’t get over the fact that God created us, gifted us, and designed a specific work for us to do. It is important that we TRAIN people to do that work. There are two important aspects to the work God has called us to.

One, it is not so we can be served, but that others can be served by us. 1Peter 4:10 tells us, “As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same onto to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” That is the example Jesus set that we read about in Matthew 20:28 “Even as the Son of man come not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.”

Two, it is to bring glory to God and Him only. The Bible describes the work we do for God as a shining light. Jesus described Himself as the light in John 8:12; 9:5; & 12:46. So the light that shines from the work we do is Jesus. Matthew 5:16 says, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” People may see us working, but all the glory goes to God. At The Light Church, the sole purpose of TRAIN is so our people learn to serve others (not ourselves) and in doing so, glorifying God (not ourselves).
